Parkview Announcements
Parent/Teacher Conferences are Coming Up at the End of the Month

Conferences will be held on Tuesday, September 30th and Thursday, October 2nd from 4:30 to 8:30pm.  Your child’s advisory teacher will be your single point of contact for each core academic teacher (math, science, social studies, literacy) and some encore teachers (modern language, family and consumer science, art, computer technology education) in this conference setting. You may choose to briefly visit with your child’s music, physical education, health, algebra, AELP, or special education teachers before or after that conference.  Due to time constraints, this format for conferences is not designed for parents to meet individually with each core academic teacher. For specific and detailed questions to academic teachers other than your child’s advisory teacher please call or email that specific teacher.  Please contact your child’s advisory teacher if you are not aware of your scheduled conference time.

Iowa Youth Survey 2014 for 6th Graders
The Ankeny Community School District has agreed to administer the Iowa Youth Survey to students in 6th, 8th, and 11th grades between September 29th and October 31st.  Directed by the Iowa Department of Public Health in partnership with the Iowa Departments of Education and Human Rights, the survey collects information about Iowa youth in order to better understand their beliefs, values, and decisions about what makes them feel secure, strong, and safe in their communities, schools, and families.  In addition, information is collected about their ideas on alcohol, tobacco, drugs, bullying and harassment, and violence prevention.   Participation in the survey is anonymous and strictly voluntary, and no student is required to fill out the questionnaire.  Please click here to read the parent letter for more information.

If you do not want your child to participate, simply sign and return the third page to the Parkview Office by Wednesday, September 24.  Thank you.

Has Your 7th Grader Gotten Their tDap Shot yet?
Has your 7th grader had their dTap shot?  Our school needs to have a copy of the immunization on file so if you haven't turned in the copy of the sheet, please have your child bring it to the nurse's office. The State of Iowa requires all 7th graders born after September 15, 2000, to have the booster "Tdap". If the child does not receive this vaccine by October 15th, the State of Iowa is enforcing this law, and they will be excluded from school. For free immunizations, call Polk County Health Department at 515-286-3798.  If you have any questions, feel free to call our school nurse, Joy Block at 965-9640.
