Parkview's Student Play, "The Girl with the Golden Locks" Performance is Coming Soon
Enter the world of fairy-tale espionage and intrigue, where top-level spies take on the kingdom’s worst.  Agent Gold is the girl with the golden locks. She and her partners, a pair of sisters — Rose Red, who is known as Agent Red, and rookie agent Snow White. Need to find a way to foil the plans of the three bears.

All of Parkview’s students will be invited to watch the play with their team during the last hour of school Wednesday or Thursday November 12th and 13th. The official parent performance will be November 13th. Please join us at 6:30.  


Expeditions...After School activities for Our Students

Expeditions are after school activities (4:00 – 5:15pm) designed and provided by staff for students to engage in activity that emphasizes social, emotional, physical and/or academic growth.  It provides students opportunities to interact with other students that they may not see during the normal school routines.   There is a $20.00 fee to participate in each Expedition.  Families may receive financial assistance if qualified. Please click here for more information about Expeditions as well as the sign up form. 



MOYA..The Month of the Young Adolescent
October is “The Month of the Young Adolescent (MOYA), which is an initiative designed to focus on the unique and special development of students between the ages of 10 and 15.  Please click here to see our flyer about our MOYA activities! 

 

New Fliers Now Available in the Backpack
New fliers for the month are now available in the online vBackpack. The vBackpack includes fliers from community organizations for events or activities for students. Check out the fliers for this month here.

Hundreds of new and gently used coats are waiting for students in need and will be distributed by F.E.W.D. (Faith and Education Winter Donations) program, supported by Project Fresh Start through the Ankeny Community Education Department: No need analysis form is required to receive needed winter wear.  Recipients will only be asked for student age and proof of Ankeny residence (such as driver’s license or a bill with an Ankeny address).  View more information on the donation drive.
Daylight Savings Time Ends This Weekend
Don't forget: Daylight savings time ends and we return to standard time this weekend at 2:00 AM Sunday, November 2.  Remember to set your clocks back ("fall back") one hour Saturday night.
November 6 flu clinic location changed to Southview Middle School -
The Polk County Health Department flu clinic originally scheduled to be held at Ankeny High School on November 6 has been changed to Southview Middle School at 1020 SW Cherry Street.  Please note this change of location.  Ankeny Community School District is again partnering with the Polk County Health Department to provide seasonal flu vaccination clinics, and vaccinations will be available to all staff and students, and to the public.  Learn more about the flu clinics here.
Ankeny's first hosting of the statewide middle school cross country meet deemed a success!:
On Saturday, October 18, a nearly 100-member volunteer crew comprised of Ankeny Centennial High School cross country runners and their families welcomed athletes from all four corners of the state to Ankeny.  The runners came to compete in the Dick Washburn Classic middle school statewide cross country meet.  This is the first year Ankeny has hosted the meet, which is sponsored by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC).  Read more about the event's success.
Pay-to-Ride busing 2nd semester registration is now open:
Ankeny Schools are pleased to again offer an optional pay-to-ride student transportation program for elementary and middle school students who live within two miles of their assigned school and high school students who live within three miles of their assigned school.  Sign-up for second semester is now underway, and closes on December 15.  Learn more about the program here.
