Volunteer Help Needed....

Transitioning to 6th Grade this Fall
Seems awlful early but we have begun to start planning for next fall and transitioning 5th grade students to middle school.  Registration will be online starting April 14th and concluding on April 24th.  Please click here for more information.  Honor Science applications are also due back by April 17th!  Click here for that application.
Art Center to Display Student Artwork
Ankeny students will have the opportunity to showcase their artistic creations during the Annual K-12 Art Show at the Ankeny Art Center this month.  The work on display will represent artists from all 16 of Ankeny's schools.  Read more about the art show and artist receptions.
Classes to be in session on April 24 snow make-up day:
 Due to classes being cancelled for inclement weather on January 7, Ankeny Schools will use the April 24 “Built in Snow Day” shown on the district calendar to make up the missed day.  Instead of being a day off from school, regular classes will be in session and students will attend school on Friday, April 24.

6th Grade Band Concerts

6th Grade Band Concerts


Our next concert will be held on Monday, April 27th.  Please note that this concert will be held at the Ankeny High School Auditorium. The 6th Grade Gold Band and the Southview 8th grade band will be performing their concert at 6:30pm and the 6th Grade Maroon and Crimson bands will perform at 7:45pm. The High School is located at 1155 SW Cherry Street.

The schedule for Monday, April 27th:

3:45 - PV students need to take their instruments & music home after school.
6:10 - Gold band members: Arrive at Ankeny High School, enter the doors on the East Side, Door 26E
6:30-Concert Start Time
7:25 - Maroon and Crimson band members: Arrive at Ankeny High School, enter the doors on the East Side, Door 26E
7:45-Concert Start Time

Concert Dress: Dress pants, dress shoes, and white shirt. (PV music T-shirt or other white shirt)

Ankeny Jazz Artist-In-Residency

April 21st at 7:30 pm at AHS Auditorium
Demani Phillips, Saxophone/Jazz Instructor from the University of Iowa, will join Parkview, Southview and AHS students for this year's Ankeny Jazz Artist-In-Residency on April 20-21. The students will participate in clinics and master classes during the school day, the event will conclude with a concert in the AHS auditorium on
April 21 at 7:30 p.m. Students should arrive at the high school at 7:00 pm.  Enter door 26E.
Concert dress:  black pants/skirt, white PV t-shirt or other white shirt.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students, seniors, and veterans.


 
Board to Approve School Calendar at April 20 Meeting

The Ankeny Board of Education will vote on a 2015-2016 school calendar at their Monday, April 20 regular meeting.  After the state sent legislation regarding the school start date to the Governor on March 31, the Board reviewed several options for the calendar at their next regular meeting, held April 6.  They could not, however, approve the calendar at that meeting, as there is a requirement to first hold a public hearing, which was scheduled for April 20. 

“Metro school districts have been considering the day of the week on which to start, especially for younger students, as well as the length of winter break and other factors that affect the end date of school,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Bruce A. Kimpston.  “The Board will be voting Monday and a calendar will be posted as soon afterward as possible.”

Second semester 12-week reports now online for grades 6-12:
Ankeny secondary schools' second semester 12-week midterm grade reports are now available in Infinite Campus.  Midterm report cards are not sent via mail.  No paper reports are sent until the end of the semester.  Parents and guardians may view midterm grades via Infinite Campus.  If you do not have an account set up in Infinite Campus, please click here for more information.
